Tin Man

UA Press and Creative Campus are teaming up to present Tin Man on Tuesday, December 1 from 4:30 to 6 pm.  Photographer Chip Cooper, Writer Ben Windham, Designer Michele Quinn, and Featured Artist Charlie Lucas will all be available for open conversation, and there will also be a presentation and interactive art demonstration by Mr. Lucas.

On December 1st, 2009 at 4:30 PM, Creative Campus welcomed renowned folk artist Charlie Lucas in celebration of the release of the book ‘Tin Man’ featuring photos of his art. The night opened with the introduction of photographer Chip Cooper and writer/journalist Ben Windham—who were available along with Lucas to sign copies of the book.  Also present was the very talented Michele Quinn who is responsible for the design and aesthetic of the book.

After the open discussion time, Mr. Lucas led the diverse group in an art demonstration using his ‘junk box’ in order to embellish the small folk-collage sculptures that everyone had made. The attendees and participants ranged from age 18 to 80 years old.

After the event, many kind words were bestowed on Creative Campus, and at one point, Cooper even claimed it to be one of the nicest author events that he had been to. Creative Campus would like to extend a large thanks to Charlie Lucas, Chip Cooper, Ben Windham, Michele Quinn, and all of the University Press for their help in making this event a success.
